Hi,

I would like to ask someone from TI if you are planning to release a WPC 1.2 Receiver 15W in the near future. We are planning to use this technology in our next year project and we wonder if it would be available till May/June of 2017. Especially the evaluation board will be useful.

BQ51013B

Hello,

I'm hoping to use BQ51013B for my university project with regard to wireless power transmission.I have already designed the circuit according to the data provided in data sheet.I don't have a expert knowledge on electronics so i need a little help with verifying the circuit design. The design is attached with this question.

Thank you

Failure to re-initiate charge when connected to transmitter.

I am using the BQ51050B with the B -689.

I am finding that when charging complete occurs on the charger, the charge does not re-initiate if the battery level drops. (Scope images attached)

This is occurring on all of the base's that I use (aside form the BQ500210EVM, I have used 2 additional transmitters). Is this part of the Qi protocol, or might it be a circuit configuration?

Thank you.

BQ501210 Wireless Power Transmitter EVM

Hi,

I am planning to use BQ501210 EVM reference design in the development of a wireless charger for my project. I want to know that if it FCC compliant ?

If it isn't that what would be required in the EVM design to make it FCC compliant.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks.

EMI issue BQ500412

Hi all.

I’m using BQ500412 IC for wireless power transfer.

I’m using BQ51013B IC for wireless power receiver.

During the EN regulation verification I came across with major EMI issue (radiated emission).

I test my design against EN300 300-2 standard that applies for radio equipment in the frequency range of 9 KHz to 25MHz.

The BQ500412 is Qi compliance, WPC1.1 standard that working with the frequency range of 120 KHz to 205 KHz.

This IC is a variable frequency device.  It will start at 175 kHz.  At light load the frequency will go up at heavy loads the frequency will go down.

According to EN300 300-2 standard the limit are:

Between 135 KHz – 140 KHz the limit is 42dBuA/m

Between 140 KHz – 148.5 KHz the limit is 42dBuA/m

Between 148.5 KHz – 30MHz the limit is -5dBuA/m

The meaning of this is that there is a big gap between the limit above 148.5 KHz and under 148.5KHz. (30dBuA/m gap)

Basically any emission over the frequency 148.5 KHz is “unwanted emission”

I think it very odd that there is suck kind of international compliance and standard that has this kind of low limit (and even “unwanted emission” on that FREQ according to Annex J on the EN300300 standard)

That’s located exactly in the middle of international standard.

According to TI EVAL board, TI completed EMI testing on the bq500412 EVM in 2013 before release of the EVM, in the following standards:

1.)    For EU - EN61326-1

2.)    For US – FCC Part 18

3.)    For Canada – ICES-001

Here is my question is:

  • Why TI test this EVAL board only against EN61326-1 (These are for the unintentional radiator portion as well as the digital circuitry portion of the device) and not test it also against the EN300 300-2 standard that applies for radio equipment?
  • EN61326-1 doesn’t even go down to the transmit frequency of your device.  TI radiated testing is from 30MHz – 1000MHz, why TI use only this test?
  • Is there possibility that we scan according to the wrong standard?
  • Is there a specific standard to wireless power transmitters, if so can you please provide me this standard?
  • Can you please share all of the testing standards that done by TI on this device?

Hi,

We are planning to interface BQ51025EVM-649_ Wireless Charger Receiver with i.X7 SABRE Board. For the same we are planning to connect the J3 only. IS any other pins required?

Could you please brief any other connection is required? We are confused as there is no power supply to the fuel gauge. Please describe in detail how to test this EVM

We are planning to use the BQ501210EVM-756_Transmitter with this. Please describe the settings or power supply to be taken care in this BQ501210EVM-756_Transmitter while testing?

Please describe each step to power Up and ON these EVMs. (transmitter and receiver)

bq51050b charger detection

Hi,

We are planning on introducing the bq51050b into our product instead of our current USB port charger. The question we have is that we would like to know when the product is lying in the induction charger cradle, not only when it is actually charging. The CHG port (as I have understood) is only active low when the product is charging, and when it detects the battery to be full, it will be floating/high?

What I'm looking for is someone to explain how we basically can hook up to either of the coils to see if there is a charger nearby. The output we want is a steady low or high signal, that does not get cut off until the product is taken away from the carger. Up to 8v is ok.

BQ501210EVM-756A Wireless Power Transmitter with no Receiver

Hi,

Is there any way BQ501210EVM-756A Wireless Power Transmitter works without any receiver?

I mean, is there any way BQ501210EVM-756A transmits continuously without the "feedback" that a receiver gives him? Any pin I could change in order to trick the transmitter son it believes its receiver is nearby?

Thank you,

Lander

BQ51050B and 10h timer

$

BQ51050B is quite optimal chip for charging our device ~1A. However 10h charging timer gives faulty battery error and charging stops until device is removed from charging pad. This ruins our burn in test. In this test device is continuously powered and stays on charging pad consuming more than charging end current, so BQ51050B cannot stop charging normally. Is there any trick to overcome this 10h timer from device side?

BQ51050B: Unlocking under-voltage lockout by forcing Vrect voltage value.

Part Number:BQ51050B

Hello all,

I'm using the BQ51050B IC for charging through QI a 4500mAh LiPo battery. If the battery is discharged and the voltage is around 2.8V, the QI charger struggles to start charging and related LED on the charging plate blinks instead of being solid. This should indicate that the QI charger can not start charging because the battery voltage is too low (and so the IC is in under-voltage lockout, low Vrect)? Or the QI charger is not powerful enough? Indeed I also noticed a relation between this behavior and the distance between the QI charging plate and the receiver coil in addition to the relation with battery voltage value.

Anyway, in case the BQ51050B IC is in this presumed under-voltage lockout (QI charging inhibited), if I connect just for a second a low value resistor between Vrect and positive battery voltage (so forcing Vrect to a higher value) than charge starts immediately.

Could anyone please help me to understand this behavior and maybe explain more in detail the under-voltage lockout condition since I can not find further info in the BQ51050B datasheet?

Thank you very much.

Regards.

BQ51050B: Vrect not going above 1.12 V

Part Number:BQ51050B

I'm trying to debug my initial design for a wireless battery charger using the bq51050b. I'll admit that I don't completely understand how it works, so I'm not entirely sure where to start. When I place the Rx over the transmitter coil, I don't believe it is connecting. All I am getting (on the RECT pin) is a string of 70 ms pulses at 1.12 V about every half a second. Is this an expected waveform that would help identify the problem? And if not, what else would I need to check?

hi:

i got a wireless charging prototype to the iphone, and draw the schematic diagram as follow.  The output of Bq51013B is normal, but i have no idea about the U2.

The Device marking is "A8  E62",  the package type is sot23-6. and the functions  described as below:

1. No iphone connected:  the voltage of U2_6Pin is 0V , Q1 Mos turn on;

2. With iphone connected:the voltage of U2_6Pin is 3V , Q1 Mos turn on;

3.When the voltage of  iphone  battery is incorrent , Q1 MOS may be can turn off.

if someone one know the device ,pls let me know . thanks a lot.
