bq51013A output noise

$

I have an issue with a design using the bq51013A.

The following image is the output measured with an oscilloscope, when drawing about 0.5 A.

I'm using a Wurth 10 uH RX coil and I have a number of different Qi senders that I've used with similar result.

You can also quite clearly hear a high pithced sound that conforms well to the signal you see on the output.

I've used the following schematic, with the capacitors both as in the schematic, as well as with newer calculated values for 10 uH.

The newer values I use are C1=220 nF C2= 27 nF C3= 1 nF. C4 = 2400 pF C5= 160 pF. Both these values have been soldered on my PCB and both give more or less of this effect.

What strikes me as odd is that the bq51013AEVM HPA765 is specified with the capacitors I use in the above schematic, but from the equation in the data sheet of the bq51013A these values are way off.

In summary, my questions would be:

  1. Are my resonance calculations correct? (for L= 10.2 uH measured (or 10 uH on specs, not too big of a difference) I get C1 = 248 nF and C2 = 2.56 nF
  2. What can be done to minimize this effect, if it's not my resonance capacitor calculations that are off?

Receiver Coil without ferrite

I want to perform some experiments with the Wireless Power evaluation kit  BQ500210 EVM-689 (transmitter module) and the BQ51013B EVM-764 (receiver) module,

but I'm interested in using a receiver coil without the ferrite shielding substrate.

Is it easy to remove the ferrite sheet from the commercial coil/shield components or shall I purchase just coils?

Are there standardised Litz-wire coils for this application?

Thank you in advance.

bq500410a LOW POWER MODE

If, to control the low power mode of the bq500410a, I were to use a different micro controller than the one suggested, the MSP430G2101, do I need special firmware installed in the bq500410a?, is there another one recommended? can I opt for another?

Thanks

bq51050B recharge problem

Dear,

we made a receiver device with bq51050B. We are using it in combination with commercially available charging pads (we have three different brands).

The device is basically functioning correctly. It charges without any problem, both charging pad and receiver device lights up "Charging" LED. After the charging is done charging pad lights up "Full" LED while receiver device turns OFF charging LED. By looking at this behavior everything looks fine, but with further testing we noticed one problem.

We left the device on a charging pad for the whole night and when we got back to the office next morning the charging pad still had "Full" LED light up while the device battery was completely EMPTY. The battery capacity is only 60mAh so after the charging had finished the device started working and it consumed all the power from the battery but the RECHARGE sequence was never initiated.

By looking at the datasheet for bq51050B, the recharge threshold should be in between 4.065V and 4.11V. The only way to initiate recharge sequence is to take the receiver device off the charging pad and put it back again but you can see how this is inappropriate. People like to leave their devices on the charger for the whole night and to pick up the device fully charged in the morning.

Do you have any idea what could be the problem? We looked at the receiver coil with oscilloscope during the WEIRD stage and we can see that transmitter is trying to initiate the communication every 500ms, but it seems that receiver is not responding to this. Still, it's strange that during all of this charging pad is showing Full LED light up. All three charger pads behave the same way.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Dusan Mihajlovic

Dear TI,

I am currently designing the following wireless charger based on the BQ51050B EVM.

I am using the Zens power transmitter for my application. i attach the Material i used for this design.

(Please visit the site to view this file)

I need to charge a 3V Li-Ion battery.

I can't find the problem and i really need it to work because is for my graduation internship. Is there anything you can do to help me out in this design?

Kind regards,

bq 500212A sleep.

Hi

I have 2 questions regarding the 500212A .

1. when does it enters to sleep? can I simulate it in real life some how?

2. we are using controller instead of the analog timers (for sleep and snooz) from what we understood when waking up from snooz we should put the snooze_cap to 1 and fall to 0 after we see the peek from snooze.

what is happening in sleep? should it be 0 all the time?

thanks in advanced.

BQ51050B recharge control

I am using BQ51050B receiver/charger together with a BQ500212a transmitter to chareg a battery on my device.

Once charging stops it will not start to recharge again until I remove it and replace it on the charging pad.

This will drain my battery.

Do you have any idea what the problem could be. I have seen a thread about recharge problem but no answer.

Is there a way to externally start the recharging process.

Li-Ion Battery Emulator

Hello,

I need to emulate the battery to evaluate my BQ51050 Li-Ion Battery Charger. In the Evaluation guide the following circuit of Battery Emulator (PR1010) is given.

Kindly explain the following points plz.

1) TBH25P5R6  is 5.6 Ohm Resistor (5R6) but the schematics shows 2.2 Ohm Resistor. So what value of resistor is to use in the design ??

2) What is the input impedance of the Li-Ion Battery ?? Two 5.6 Ohm Resistor in parallel will emulate 2.8 Ohms ?

need ORCAD Files for BQ500212AEVM-550, BQ51013BEVM-764 etc.

Problem with Wake on LAN - Cisco 3750 L3 Core ?

Two matters you may meet: 1.The Cisco L3 3750 switch (4 VLAN’s /interfaces–1 for each floor) – has NO access lists on it AT ALL. This new wake on lan config requires an access list to limit/the broadcasts to be from the sccm/wol server (i dont want broadcasts accross vlans other than the wol). 2.Does UDP port sccm use for WOL broadcast? Solution: For the question 1: My concern is does an access-list not have an implicit deny (to all other traffic not listed) ? Answer: Yes it has (for directed broadcast, that is) For the question 2: Answer:I have not tryed with SCCM yet, but with Ghost we had a similar L3-switch-setup.

Hello,

There is one question I would like to ask, on the datasheet of bq500212A It says that it can be used in a A5(5V single Coil with magnet) or an A11(5V single Coil without magnet) application.

The chip bq500212A uses a 3.3V input, and runs 5V through the bridge and to the TX Coil. Can we use this chip and run a higher voltage and use

A10

Single Primary Coil without magnet

#1

19 V

Or

A15

Single Primary Coil, user assisted alignment

#2

12 V

 Or

A17

Dear TI,

I posted a couple of weeks ago the following schematic.

I used the EVM for the choice of the capacitors and the coil so i didn't tune it myself. For instance, I'm using the coil and capacitors recommended in the EVM. One is 9.7uH (IWAS 4832ff50) and the other coil is 10.5uH (WR48325015M2).

The ratings of the capacitors are 50 V.

My charging current is 100mA.

I am working with a Zens transmitter pad, Qi compliant.

http://www.makezens.com/shop/zens-single-wireless-charger-black/

but it doesn't seems to work.

I have the following measurement on RECT pin:

And in the COM1 pin:

I will make a new PCB and solder the components again.  But i would like to know if there is something wrong in my schematic or measurements.

In addition I would like to know if you can guide me in the assembling of the PR1010. I am new in this wireless design and i can't understand Figure 3 in the Bq51050-EVM-764. How do i connect the TBH25P5R6.

At last if I would like to tune the capacitors, how do I measure Ls and LS'. I have been trying to figure that out but i can't understand what exactly needs to be exited with 1V RMS 100Khz?

Kind regards,

Adrian

Hi,

1.) i want to design a wireless power charger for a 3,6V battery with 45mAH capacity. For this i want to use either    'bq51051B' or 'bq51013+bq24040'. What is the better solution or do you have any other recommendations?

2.) Is it better to place the LED D1 to the BAT or RECT output?

Kind regards

BQ500414Q - switching frequency(Fsw)

Hi all,

Would you mind if we ask switching frequency(Fsw) of BQ500414Q?

<Question1>
The datasheet shows that the frequnecy range is from 120kHz to 205KHz.
We quess that we can set this value using external capacitor or I2C command.
However we could not find this method.
Could you teach details of setting method?

<Question2>
On your promotion document for Wireless Power Solutions, the document explains
main features of BQ500414Q.
We find the word "Frequnecy adjust".What is this function?

<Question3>
In reference to <Question2>, if we use BQ500414Q, we'd like to choose switching frequency
without overlapping to Radio's frequency.
So, "Frequnecy adjust" is used for this content?
We'd like to avoid overlapping to Radio's frequency automatically.

We need your help.

Kind regards,

Hi All,

Our customer has been interested in bq51021 because it has I2C function in contrast to bq51020, but only bq51020EVM has been available so far. Do you have any option to evaluate bq51021? Or do you have plan to release bq51021EVM?

Hi~

I have a questions regarding the bq500212a snooze and sleep  functions

My sample board with bq500212a is not work correctly about snooze and sleep function.

When bq500212a power up without Rx(bq51013b), it is not enter snooze mode, so Input current is about 50mA

When with Rx, bq500212a is OK

attach my schemetic

thanks in advanced.
